Mystery of The Male God: An International Literary Evening
Writers Eeva Maria al-Khazaali and Henry al-Muthanna will present Mystery of The Male God, a multilingual literary event at Tuba Food and Lounge (Mannenkatu 2, Oulu). The evening brings together a novel reading, spoken word poetry, conversation between the authors, and an open mic for emerging voices. The event starts at 7 pm and ends at 9:30 pm.
The program explores themes of identity, language, power, and vulnerability through literature and performance. At the center of the event are al-Khazaali’s novel The Male God and al-Muthanna’s confessional debut Mystery of Misery.
After a short break, the stage opens to the public with a multilingual open mic. Participants are invited to share poetry, short prose, or spoken word pieces in any language.
About the artists
Eeva Maria al-Khazaali is a Finnish poet, performer and an author whose work explores identity, language, memory, and the body. Her writing moves between poetry and prose.
The Male God (Rosetta Versos 2026) is her debut novel. Minimalistic novel pushes the boundaries of the narrative. It intertwines the romantic and the experimental into philosophical meditaation.
Henry al-Muthanna is a Serbian-American poet and spoken word artist whose work explores masculinity, faith, and social fracture. His debut anthology Mystery of Misery (Non-Aligned Publishing 2026) follows a fragmented narrator moving through abandonment, addiction, and belief, treating misery as discipline, survival as testimony, and faith as something to be argued with rather than inherited.
He is the co-founder of the Non-Aligned Poets Collective, a literary organization which seeks to bring together poets and artists across borders.

Kirjailijat Eeva Maria al-Khazaali ja Henry al-Muthanna esiintyvät monikielisessä Mystery of The Male God -kirjallisuustapahtumassa Tuba Food and Loungessa (Mannenkatu 2, Oulu). Kirjallisuusillassa romaanin luentaa, spoken word -esityksiä, kirjailijakeskustelua sekä avoin open mic. Tilaisuus alkaa klo 19 ja loppuu klo 21.30.
Kirjailijat käsittelevät identiteetin, kielen, vallan ja haavoittuvuuden teemoja kirjallisuuden ja spoken word -esitysten kautta. Keskiössä ovat al-Khazaalin romaani The Male God sekä al-Muthannan runokokoelma Mystery of Misery.
Lyhyen tauon jälkeen lava avautuu yleisölle monikielisessä open mic -osuudessa. Osallistujia kutsutaan jakamaan runoutta, lyhyttä proosaa tai spoken word -esityksiä millä tahansa kielellä.

Eeva Maria al-Khazaali on runoilija, esiintyjä ja kirjailija, joka käsittelee töissään identiteettiä, kieltä, muistia ja kehoa. Hänen kirjoituksensa liikkuvat runouden ja proosan välimaastossa.
Al-Khazaalin minimalistinen esikoisromaani The Male God (Rosetta Versos 2026) rikkoo perinteisen kerronnan rajoja yhdistämällä romanttisen ja kokeellisen filosofiseksi mietiskelyksi.
Henry al-Muthanna on runoilija ja spoken word -artisti, jonka teokset tarkastelevat maskuliinisuutta, uskoa ja yhteiskunnallista säröä. Hänen esikoiskokoelmassan Mystery of Misery (Non-Aligned Publishing, 2026) kertoja kulkee hylkäämisen, riippuvuuden ja uskon läpi. Teos käsittelee kurjuutta kurinalaisuutena, selviytymistä todistuksena ja uskoa jonakin, jonka kanssa väitellään sen sijaan, että se perittäisiin valmiina.
Hän on myös Non-Aligned Poets Collective -kollektiivin toinen perustaja. Kollektiivi tuo yhteen taiteilijoita yli rajojen.
